Therapeutic Ultrasound

A painless, electrotherapy modality used by therapists for many years to treat injuries such as muscle strains/tears, Ligament sprains/tears, tendinopathies, musculoskeletal swelling. In a nutshell, it works via the Piezoelectric Effect. Crystals in the probe head cause a vibration which is then transmitted into the soft tissue being treated. This creates the desired physiological effects to promote healing. As always, there are certain situations & conditions where the use of Therapeutic Ultrasound is contraindicated – including but not limited to – patients with malignancy, metal implants, pregnant women, vascular abnormalities and areas of sensitive body tissue such as the eyes, reproductive organs, abdomen & head.
